An efficient climate control system is critical for the proper aging of wines in your residential custom wine cellar. In this example project for a wine cellar owner in Temecula near Riverside in California we show how the wine cellar refrigeration unit can be made both unobtrusive and efficient.
This project which Arctic Metalworks just finished is a wine cellar in Temecula built for the Leigh family. It was a split system, wine cooling system. This means that the compressor is kelp in a separate location to the evaporator improving efficiency and making for a quieter wine room.
As you can see from the images we installed the cooling units evaporator behind a specially manufactured grill made from the same wood as the wine racking so that it would blend into the cellar.
Integrated Wine Cellar and Home Theater Cooling System
In addition to the wine cellar refrigeration system we also installed a special cooling 
system for the theater equipment room as well. For efficiency and to reduce the overall cost of the project we installed one condensing unit with two evaporator coils. Separate evaporator coils were installed for each room each with its own independent temperature controls. The cooling systems condensing unit was placed in an outdoor location for optimum ventilation.
The custom wine cellar was built into a space under a stairwell. It was fully insulated and had a special vapor barrier installed.
